Asia Cup 2023: Unveiling the Cricket Extravaganza in Pakistan and Sri Lanka


The Asia Cup 2023 is all set to kick off from August 30 to September 17 in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This edition of the tournament will feature a 50-over ODI format and will take place at reputable international venues. The competition will follow a structure involving two groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super Four stage. The ultimate clash will see the leading teams from the Super Four battling it out in the final. 

The tournament will commence in Multan with an exciting opening match between Pakistan and Nepal. The participating teams are divided into two groups: Group A includes Pakistan, India, and Nepal, while Group B consists of Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka. The matches will adhere to the fifty-overs format, with the hosting duties being shared between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Pakistan will host four matches across two venues, and the rest of the games will take place in Sri Lanka. The action-packed event will begin on August 30 with the match between Pakistan and Nepal in Multan. Additionally, Lahore will host three more matches, including a possible Pakistan Super Four fixture on September 6. 

The remaining games will be held in Sri Lanka, with three scheduled for Kandy and six to be played in Colombo, culminating with the grand final on September 17. One of the most anticipated clashes of the tournament will be between arch-rivals India and Pakistan during the round-robin stage. This exciting encounter is scheduled for September 2 in Kandy.

Fans can also look forward to a potential rematch between the two teams during the Super Four stage, which is slated for September 10 in Colombo.

Tournament Format

The 2023 Asia Cup will adopt an engaging format that keeps fans on the edge of their seats. Divided into two groups, Group A and Group B, six teams are vying for supremacy. Two teams from each group will advance to the Super Four stage, where the top two teams will eventually battle it out in the grand final.
